This energetic activity thrives. Starting initially in December 2009 in Tsuen Wan under the encouragement of a local Police Commander who was keen on running, the weekly training sessions at Tsing Yi Sports Ground now attracts 20 or so kids with almost as many helpers. The sessions take place from 19:00 – 21:00 hrs and the group has taken part in numerous competitions. Many of the kids have developed into decent runners, whilst others show promise and have made considerable progress. In December 2010, another Running activity commenced in Yuen Long District and this activity likewise has about 20 kids and appears to be growing. Both activities are well supported by Adidas (HK) Ltd with HKFYG being the NGO responsible with the support from both Police districts in terms of volunteers who are keen runners. Six kids have now taken part in the highly coveted Outward Bound Course and the activity running costs are minimal. As with other Breakthrough activities, award ceremonies and social events such as BBQs and fun runs are regularly held.
